The board exams of classes 10,12 are postponed in Punjab.

It is done due to the rise in the COVID-19 cases

New dates have been announced for the exams.

Due to the rise in the COVID-19 cases, the Board exams of classes 10, 12 have been postponed in the state of Punjab. 

Earlier, the board exams were scheduled to begin on April 9 and March 12 for classes 10 and 12 students.

The state education department has said that the 10th Board exams will be conducted from 4th May to 24th May. For the class 12th, the Board exams will be held from April 20 to May 24. 

This decision came up as there was an increase in the COVID-19 cases in the state. In the last 24 hours, there were fresh 1843 cases taking the total tally of 1,99,573.

The death rate had risen to 6,099 with 27 fatalities. 

As per the active cases, it increased from 11,550 on Sunday to 11,942 on Monday. 

Jalandhar reported a maximum of 372 fresh COVID-19 cases, Ludhiana 226, Amritsar 147, and Mohali 164. 

The health minister of Punjab, Balbir Singh Sidhu instructed all civil surgeons to motivate COVID-19 patients for early treatment at the health facilities.
