New Delhi: Another day of a huge spike in the number of COVID-19 cases in India with 66,999 cases reported in India leading the total cases to 23,96,638 cases. There are over 6,00,000 active cases reported in India according to the Ministry of Health and Family Affairs.

There have been 942 cases of death which have been reported in the last 24 hours which brings the death tally to 47,033 deaths. This has been a continuing trend for several weeks with over 60,000 cases reported in over 2 to 3 days and over 50,000 cases reported in the last weeks of July and also the beginning of August.

There are several reasons for the increase in the number of cases. One of the reasons can be the increase in the number of tests conducted daily with over 6 Lakh tests conducted daily which is a good number of tests to be conducted.

But there needs to be an increase in the number of tests conducted and there needs to be access to remote testing systems to the areas which do not have a hospital. There have also been several issues in relation to testing and also the safety of the Health Workers which were reported. This needs to be taken seriously with more measures taken to reduce the Active COVID-19 cases and also the addition of the new cases.

This can be done in several ways including determining the containment zones and increasing the restrictions in the contaminants zone along with increased facilities in the public hospitals and quarantine centers for people affected by COVID-19.
