Self-reliance in the defence sector is highly crucial than any other sector of the government; says Rajnath Singh the Defence Minister of India on Thursday. Rajnath Singh made this statement while attending the ‘AATMANIRBHARTA SAPTAH’ over a video conference at the South Block.

“We should not only be able to ensure the fulfillment of our national interests but also help other people in the times of need. Self reliance in the defence sector is far more crucial than in any other field. For the last six days , you have been doing the important work of modernization of facilities, upgradation of facilities and construction of a new work infrastructure, continuously moving towards ‘self reliance.’ “ as stated by Rajnath Singh while addressing the participants present over the video conferencing.

He also added to the above statement that the first priority toward the development of any country is the national security. We are all aware of the fact that the nations which have enough power and sources and are capable enough to protect themselves have all been able to put up a strong front globally. He also ventured a thought that we as a nation cannot remain dependent on the foreign countries to enhance our defence system. He said that being dependent on other countries is a barrier for the defence sectors goal of being self reliant.

He also acknowledged the efforts of the defence PSU’s and the OFB to make India self reliant. He said that he was happy to see the recently launched defence products under the Self reliant campaign by the OFB and the PSU’s.

The products and facilities will not only help fulfill the goal but will also help the betterment of the civil society. As said by the Defence Minister himself.
