Why fanaticism in the name of religion : Bengaluru Violence

Bengaluru: Section 144 imposed in entire city, 110 arrested, Two persons died and around 60 cops are injured in the violence  including senior officers at the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) , that broke out over social media post, in Bengaluru late Tuesday.

Residence of Congress MLA Akhanda Srinivasamurthy was attacked last tuesday ,as violence broke out because of Facebook post by the MLA’s relative was offensive to Islam and its beliefs.

Trouble begin at 7PM at Kaval Byrasandra in Bengaluru , mob gathered  outside the house of politician's house , pelting stones and set two cars on fire.

Police opened fire to disperse mobs which attacked KG Halli and DJ Halli police stations last Tuesday night. Senior officials, including DCP (east) SD Sharanappa, tried to pacify the mob. 

Police clamped curfew in areas coming under KG Halli, DJ Halli.

Bengaluru Police Commissioner Kamal Pant Wednesday morning confirmed the "arrest of the accused named Naveen (relative of Pulakeshinagar MLA Akhanda Srinivasmurthy) for uploading derogatory posts .“Also a total of 110 accused have been arrested for arson, stone-pelting, and assault on police,”  The situation is under control now." Police Commissioner Kamal Pant said.

“Police jeeps, buses, and other vehicles parked in the area were burnt by the violent mob. Stone pelting was also rampant in the area during the late hours. Two vehicles in which DCPs arrived at the site were overturned and burnt," he added. 

Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Kamal Pant told Indianexpress.com that We have learned that three people have died during the incident. However, we are yet to ascertain the exact reason behind these deaths," Pant said. 

“This is an act of miscreants. Police and government will investigate and initiate legal action against mischief-mongers. I’m the MLA of this constituency and everyone here is my family. I request you to maintain peace. I fear miscreants may take advantage of the situation,” Pulakeshinagar MLA Akhanda Srinivasamurthy said.
