Three Accidents happened as soon as Atal Tunnel was Inaugurated
Reports of accidents have begun coming after the inauguration of the Atal Tunnel, which reduced the distance between Manali and Leh by 46 km.

- Three accidents have been accounted for in a single day on October 4.
- No one is allowed to stop the car midway and no overtaking is permitted regardless of the tunnel being double lane.
A day after PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the tunnel, beneath the grand Rohtang Move on October 3, three accidents have been accounted with the motorists driving carelessly.
PM Narendra Modi inaugurated this tunnel as a designing model on October 3, because of the tunnel named after former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the journey from Manali to Leh has been reduced by five hours.
The Chief Engineer of the BRO, Brig KP Purushottam stated, “The Prime Minister inaugurated the tunnel on 3 October and from that point onward, there have been three accidents in a single day. Tourists and drivers are flouting traffic rules. They take selfies while driving.” He said that nobody is allowed to park the car inside the Atal Tunnel.

Now, there has been a demand for sending of police on the spot in view of accidents. Kullu SP Gaurav Singh told Outlook that police have found a way to get control over the reckless drivers. Simultaneously, the state’s tribal affairs minister, Ram Lal Markanda, has requested the district administration to take immediate action.
With the hoisting of great protests by the BRO, the state authorities has now deployed the police after 48 hours.
