India and Nigeria sign the MoU on space cooperation and for peaceful purposes.

The external affairs minister V Muraleedharan and ISRO Scientific Secretary, R Umamaheswaran stated on his statement that the Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the nation's to focus ' cooperation within the exploration and use for peaceful purposes'.
This Mou aims to build India - Nigeria collaboration especially with a focus on space science, planetary exploration, ground stations, development of micro and mini satellites, and joint space research and development. Dr. Onu minister of science and technology, Federal Republic of Nigeria, attended the event in Abuja.
This Mou would provide the capacity-building assistance by ISRO, exchange of scientific know-how, exchanges between the various academic institutions, and join into a conference of decisions. This cooperation would definitely help in remote sensing, communication, and navigation for Nigeria in the various fields which include forests, environment, agriculture, mining, watershed development, and connectivity.
Over the past 12 years,49 Nigeria nations have attended various short term ITEC(Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation) courses in India in the fields of remote sensing, GIS and geoinformatics conducted in the IIRS.
